AvailableWe meet at the international departures terminal of Istanbul Airport three hours before the flight. (1 day before the flight date.) We complete baggage, ticket and boarding procedures.
Our flight to Seoul departs on a scheduled Turkish Airlines service. Overnight on board. Upon arrival in Seoul, we board our private coach waiting at the airport. We then transfer to Gangnam Square. Meaning 'south of the Han River', Gangnam is Seoul's third-largest district. The area rose to popularity following PSY's song Gangnam Style. Panoramic sights include Cheongdam Fashion Street, Gangnam Station, Bongeunsa Temple and Starfield Library. After a break for shopping, dining and photographs, transfer to our hotel in Seoul and free time to relax. Overnight at our hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for our tour of Nami Island, a crescent-shaped island on the Han River. It takes its name from General Nami, who lived during the Joseon Dynasty. Known particularly for its natural beauty and cultural events, the island offers a different charm in every season. Cherry blossoms in spring, green trees in summer, colourful leaves in autumn and snow-covered scenery in winter offer visitors unique experiences. The island is especially famous for its tree-lined paths, including Metasequoia Lane and Ginkgo Tree Lane. We then depart to visit the Garden of Morning Calm arboretum. Founded in 1996 by Professor Han Sang-kyung, this garden covers approximately 330.000 square metres and is home to more than 5.000 plant species. Its name was inspired by the renowned Indian poet Tagore's description of Korea as the 'Land of the Morning Calm'. Continuing our tour, we stop for photographs at the city's landmark, N-Seoul Tower, before transferring to our hotel in Seoul for free time to relax. Overnight at our hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, we travel by high-speed train to Busan, Korea's second-largest city. Upon arrival, we visit the UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea, built in memory of soldiers from 16 countries who lost their lives in the Korean War between 1950-1953. The cemetery contains the graves of 2.319 soldiers from 11 countries and is the world's only United Nations cemetery. In particular, the Turkish Memorial Cemetery, with the graves of 462 Turkish soldiers, is one of the greatest symbols of friendship between Türkiye and Korea. We continue with a visit to Yonggungsa Temple. Combining distinctive architecture with sea views, the temple was rebuilt in 1970 using traditional colours. It also features a three-storey pagoda adorned with four lion statues symbolising joy, anger, sorrow and happiness. We then transfer to Mipo Station for our Blue Line Park Sky Capsule tour. Travelling automatically at a height of 7 to 10 metres above the ground along a 2-kilometre route from Mipo Station to Cheongsapo Station, these capsules offer magnificent views of the Haeundae coast and a unique sightseeing experience. The Sky Capsules travel at an average speed of 4 km per hour and come in vibrant colours such as red, yellow, green and blue. During the journey, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Haeundae coastline and take unforgettable photographs. After the tour, transfer to our hotel in Busan and free time to relax. Overnight at our hotel.
Note: Travel from Seoul to Busan and back will be by high-speed train. On the day of departure for Busan, we recommend that guests bring clothing for 2 days. Large luggage will be left at the hotel in Seoul.
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Gamcheon Culture Village, a tourist district famous for its narrow streets, colourful houses and murals, often called the 'Santorini of Busan' or 'Lego Village'. Offering an unforgettable experience with its colourful atmosphere and artistic character, Gamcheon was built by refugees during the Korean War in the 1950s. In 2009, as part of the 'Dreaming of Machu Picchu in Busan' art project, artists and students painted the village's walls and houses in vibrant colours and decorated them with various artworks and sculptures. This project transformed Gamcheon into a popular tourist destination. We continue to Gyeongju, renowned for its rich historical heritage, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and known as a 'Museum Without Walls'. In this city, which served as the capital of the Silla Kingdom for approximately a thousand years, from 57 BC to 935 AD, our first stop is Bulguksa Temple. Built in the 8th century during the Silla Kingdom, the temple is considered one of Korea's most valuable cultural heritage sites. In 1995, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List together with nearby Seokguram Grotto. Noted for structures reflecting the architectural elegance and artistic detail of the Silla period, Bulguksa Temple houses seven significant works designated as National Treasures of Korea. We then depart to visit Cheomseongdae Observatory. This cylindrical tower stands 17 metres high. Its body consists of 365 cut granite stones, symbolising the days of the year. A square window in the middle divides the structure into two sections of 12 stones each, representing the 12 months. We then continue to Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond. During the Silla period, the palace served as the crown prince's residence and a venue for important state ceremonies. Wolji Pond, also known as the 'Moon-Reflecting Lake', is an artificial pond surrounded by stone walls. Today, Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond offer visitors enchanting views, particularly when illuminated at night. After a photo stop here, transfer to our hotel in Busan and free time to relax. Overnight at our hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, we return to Seoul by high-speed train. Upon arrival, we take a short walk along the walls of Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, built by King Jeongjo in honour of Prince Sado, before visiting the Korean Folk Village. An open-air museum where you can experience traditional Korean life and culture from the Joseon Dynasty, the village has been a filming location for many Korean television series and films. After exploring daily life, traditional houses and handicrafts from the Joseon Dynasty, we transfer to Namdaemun Market, opened in 1964 and one of the country's largest traditional markets. The market has more than 10.000 shops and stalls. It offers a wide range of products, including clothing, cosmetics, accessories, kitchenware, toys, stationery, supplies, flowers, ginseng and imported goods. Bustling at all hours, the market offers the opportunity to sample delicious Korean street food and experience local culture up close. After the tour, transfer to our hotel in Seoul and free time to relax. Overnight at our hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, we check out. We then depart for our full-day Seoul city tour. Sights include Gyeongbokgung Palace, the National Folk Museum of Korea, Namsangol Hanok Village, Myeongdong Street and N Seoul Tower. Our first stop, Gyeongbokgung Palace, was built in 1395 and is often called the Northern Palace because it lies furthest north compared with the neighbouring Changdeokgung (Eastern Palace) and Gyeonghuigung (Western Palace). Next is the National Folk Museum of Korea. The museum offers visitors insight into the lives, art and cultural development of the people of South Korea across different periods. We then tour Namsangol Hanok Village. Located at the foot of Namsan Mountain in central Seoul, Namsangol Hanok Village is a fascinating cultural site where traditional Korean houses from the Joseon Dynasty have been faithfully reconstructed. As you stroll among the historic hanok houses, you will discover Korea's past way of life and have the opportunity to see traditional handicrafts and cultural performances. We continue with a transfer to Myeongdong, home to shops, cosmetics stores and numerous restaurants. In Korea's most famous shopping and fashion district, you can shop at your leisure and sample local flavours. At the end of the tour, transfer to Seoul Airport for our flight to Istanbul. Following baggage, passport and ticket procedures, we fly to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines. Our tour and services end upon arrival at Istanbul Airport.
