After breakfast at our hotel, guests who wish may join our optional visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mine (70 Euro), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s oldest mines. On this fascinating journey reaching 135 metres underground, we see magnificent galleries shaped by miners’ hands, chandeliers made from enormous salt crystals and the world-famous Chapel of St. Kinga, carved entirely from salt. Resembling an art gallery with its underground lakes and salt sculptures, this vast complex transports you to another world. After visiting the mine, we take our optional Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour (65 Euro). Passing through the famous gate bearing the inscription "Arbeit Macht Frei" (Work Sets You Free), we visit the blocks where political prisoners were held during the Nazi era. Through the exhibitions, victims’ personal belongings, original accommodation areas and the "Death Wall", our professional guide’s commentary provides a deeper understanding of the horrors of this period. We then continue to the vast Birkenau camp, located 3 km from the main camp. At the historic point where the railway tracks end, we visit the "Selection Platform", where the fate of hundreds of thousands of people was decided, and the ruins of the destroyed crematoria, bearing witness to this silent testimony. After this meaningful and moving visit, transfer to our hotel and enjoy free time. Overnight at our hotel.
