AvailableWe meet at the international departures terminal of Istanbul New Airport three hours before our flight. After baggage, ticketing and boarding formalities, we depart for Tunis on a scheduled Turkish Airlines flight. Upon arrival at Tunis Airport, we transfer to our hotel in our private coach waiting at the airport. Sights on the city tour include Bourguiba Avenue, where you will feel as though you are in France; the Cathedral of St. Vincent de Paul, dating back to the 19th century; the statue of Ibn Khaldun, one of the renowned Arab scholars of the Middle Ages; and the clock tower, considered a symbol of Tunis. We then depart for our Nabeul tour. As we wander through the atmospheric streets of Nabeul, the capital of ceramics and pottery, we will see many traditional Tunisian items, including copperware, leather goods, embroidery and cradles. We then head to Hammamet, nicknamed Tunisia’s Saint-Tropez, built by the sea with rooftop terraces offering magnificent views. In addition to its long, clean sandy beaches and azure sea, sights in Hammamet include splendid parks, lush gardens, fortress walls, streets and the Great Mosque, which has preserved the city’s rich history. After the tour, transfer to the hotel and free time to relax. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy free time. Guests who wish may join our optional Kairouan & El Jem & Monastir Tour. (90 Euro). We depart for Kairouan, where we will visit the Great Mosque of Okba Ibn Nefaa, regarded as the predecessor of all mosques in the Maghreb and one of the most important Islamic monuments. A universal architectural masterpiece, it is also classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will also visit the Aghlabid Basin and, finally, the mausoleum of Sidi Sahbi. We then depart for El Jem. Its amphitheatre is one of the best-preserved Roman remains in the world. Built in the middle of the third century AD (AD 230-240), this monumental amphitheatre is the largest surviving Roman monument in Africa and ranks third in the Empire after those in Rome and Verona. One of the last great amphitheatres built during the Roman period, its architectural design is a refined version of the Colosseum in Rome. After the tour, transfer to our hotel and free time. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy free time. Guests who wish may join our optional Tunis & Carthage & & Bardo Museum Tour. (90 Euro). We begin by setting off to explore the ancient city of Carthage. Founded by the Phoenicians and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this ancient city offers 3.000 years of Roman, Byzantine and Crusader remains to discover in the footsteps of the famous Carthaginian commander Hannibal. Home to numerous ancient structures and ruins, Carthage reflects its rich history through its thermal baths, temples and city walls. Our tour then continues with a visit to the Bardo Museum. The museum houses an extensive collection of artefacts, with its Roman mosaics particularly noteworthy. With intricate designs and vivid colours, each mosaic tells a unique story from Tunisia’s diverse past. We then head to the historic Medina district of Tunis. We explore the Medina of Tunis, also known as Old Tunis, with its narrow streets and bazaar filled with souvenir shops. We will visit Souk El Attarine, a famous market in the historic centre of Tunis, Tunisia’s capital. “Souk” means “market” or “bazaar” in Arabic, while “El Attarine” means “perfumers” or “spice merchants”. Here, you can shop at your leisure. Other sights include Place de la Kasbah (Historic Tunis Square) and the Zitouna Mosque. After the tour, transfer to our hotel and free time. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, we check out of our rooms and enjoy free time until the transfer time announced by your guide. Guests who wish may join our optional Sidi Bou Said Tour. (45 Euro). We head to Sidi Bou Said, with its blue-and-white houses, narrow streets and breathtaking views surrounded by the blue waters of the Mediterranean. You will stroll through the enchanting streets of Sidi Bou Said, also known as Tunisia’s Santorini, and have the opportunity to take wonderful photographs. After the tour, transfer to Tunis Airport at the time announced by our guide. After baggage, ticketing and boarding formalities, we depart for Istanbul on a scheduled Turkish Airlines flight. Following a pleasant and comfortable flight, we arrive in Istanbul, marking the end of our tour.
